 The Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) is responsible for reprocessing surgical instruments in a safe and efficacious manner after every surgical procedure. There are sterilization standards, guidelines, and recommended practices that need to be implemented throughout the reprocessing process to ensure that all surgical instrumentation will be sterile and safe to use on the next patient.
